Restroom Design to Meet Everyone's Needs

Restroom is a big toilet meant to be used by public. We need to take waste anywhere and anytime including when we're in public places. That's definitely the reason why restroom exists: to cater to our natural personal need.

The thing about restroom being made for public gives another issue which is different from personal bathroom in a household. The so called different issue is: design. Bathroom design specifically made for personal use is of course different from bathroom design for many and always changing people.

Restroom design should be able to meet the criteria for public use and the first obvious difference in it is the number of sinks and toilets. Evidently, restroom design would have more than one sink and toilet to fulfill the number of people go to the restroom. Therefore, the sinks are specifically made. Most of the time, the sinks are not separated and instead designed as one long line of sinks. One of the purposes of this is to save space. That said, depending on the space of the restroom, it's not uncommon to find restroom design which is only suited for one person too.

If the restroom is for male, the urinals shouldn't be placed across the sinks where there is mirror as that would be uncomfortable to use when someone else has a possibility to see you through the mirror while they're washing their hands.

For the flooring plan, the material used is better if it's not slippery. We would never know when we come in with our shoes dirty and wet. Even if we are being careful about it, the fact that it makes the restroom floor dirty can potentially be a disadvantage for other people. That being said, adding bathroom rugs in front of every restroom can be very convenient to prevent any dirt.

Summary: Restroom has a slightly different design from personal bathroom. The biggest difference is in the number of sinks and toilets.
